On-Call Psychiatry Resident Duty Doctor - Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby, Ontario

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Psychiatry Resident who has their Resident Provisional Registraton certificate to provide After Hours weekend Duty Doctor coverage.
Detail:
The Night/Weekend Duty Doctor is responsible for the provision of all medical AND psychiatric coverage to patients in the facility during their shift (after regular business hours, weekends and holidays) and is familiar with the job descriptions for both the Psychiatrist and the Family Physician. The Duty Doctor will respond to medical and psychiatric emergent and non emergent issues. The Duty Doctor will perform medical assessments by thorough history, physical examination and available diagnostic testing. The Duty Doctor will arrange transfer of patients using EMS to local emergency department as required. The Duty Doctor is familiar with the policies and practices for minimum restraint usage at Ontario Shores.
Supervision:
A Staff Physician will be available by phone to directly supervise the Resident Provisional Registraton Physician. The on-call psychiatrist/physician will also be available 24/7 for back up and is required to arrive at the facility within 20 minutes if necessary. The Resident Provisional Registration Physician will never be the Most Responsible Physician.
Min Requirement:
As per the Resident Provisional Registration Program guidelines established by the Resident's Training Program.
Geriatric Psychiatry Rotation and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Rotation completed.
Be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
Provide proof of current medical liability coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
Additional Requirement:
The Duty Doctor must meet the credential/privilege requirements as per Ontario Shores’ By-Law. The Duty Doctor will have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act and associated forms, mental health policies, programs, and systems, both institutional and community based. The Duty Doctor will be current CPR HCP certified (minimum).
Remuneration:
$800/16 hour shift, $1200/24 hour shift, 1.5x shift rate on stat holidays
